Kidney Detox – An Effective & Simple Recipe

Your kidneys are a pair of bean-shaped organs which are located near the middle of your back. It is responsible for waste elimination from your body. Kidneys process about 200 quarts of blood, each day, to help remove about 2 quarts of excess water and waste products which normally are from food and the breakdown process of active tissues.

Kidneys are also known to release three significant hormones namely:

  • erythropoietin – stimulates the bone marrow to produce red blood cells
  • renin – controls blood pressure
  • calcitriol – helps maintain calcium for bones and for standard chemical balance in the body

You might have noticed, kidneys play a vital role in your system. They help in processing almost everything that you put into your body – food, liquids, medications, etc. In simple words, they keep your body healthy and clean. And with that, it is important to take care of them and maintain a healthy state for them to function properly.

How do you keep your kidneys healthy?

One way of keeping your kidneys healthy is by doing a kidney detox. It’s quite simple and very healthy to do this periodically.  Of course as always if you have health issues you should be asking your doctor to make sure you’re in proper health to be doing a kidney detox.

Below is a simple recipe that will help your body, especially your kidneys, to help eliminate toxins.  Carrots and cucumber are a super-powered up duo. Combined, they support the kidneys in flushing out excess uric acid. With the hydrating power of cucumber and celery, your kidneys will thank you.


  • ½ Cucumber
  • 1 Stalk Celery
  • 1 Handful Cilantro
  • 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
  • 1 Carrot
  • ½ Cup Coconut Water or Alkaline water if available


Combine all ingredients into your blender and blend for about 30 seconds, or until smooth. Enjoy!
