Water to Go

Water is your body’s most important nutrient, is involved in every bodily function, and makes up 70- 75% of your total body weight. Water helps you to maintain body temperature, metabolize body fat, aids in digestion, lubricates and cushions organs, transports nutrients, and flushes toxins from your body.

For thousands of years, people of all countries have been seeking a mythical fountain of youth. If I told you that there is something that will give you beautiful glowing skin, diminish those fine lines and wrinkles, increase your energy level, and help your overall health, I bet you would listen and be interested. All the time, this fountain of youth has been right here in our everyday life. Yes, the fountain of youth is water!

“Drink more water, it’s good for you!” like as usual sayings; If, up to now, you have never taken this seriously, please start now! You do not need fancy and expensive mineral water or bottled water, as good clear clean water is what your body needs. Although water contain no nutrients, it is essential to life and for the growth and maintenance of our bodies. So, forget soft drinks, coffees, teas, sport drinks, elixirs, or cappuccinos, as drinking water is the key to being healthier and living longer.

How this H2O works?

In its purest form, it’s odorless, nearly colorless and tasteless. It’s in your body, the food you eat and the beverages you drink. You use it to clean yourself, your clothes, your dishes, your car and everything else around you. You can travel on it or jump in it to cool off on hot summer days. Many of the products that you use every day contain it or were manufactured using it. All forms of life need it, and if they don’t get enough of it, they die. Political disputes have centered around it. In some places, it’s treasured and incredibly difficult to get. In others, it’s incredibly easy to get and then squandered. What substance is more necessary to our existence than any other? Water.

At its most basic, water is a molecule with one oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms, bonded together by shared electrons. It is a V-shaped polar molecule, which means that it’s charged positively near the hydrogen atoms and negatively near the oxygen atom. Water molecules are naturally attracted and stick to each other because of this polarity, forming a hydrogen bond. This hydrogen bond is the reason behind many of water’s special properties, such as the fact that it’s denser in its liquid state than in its solid state (ice floats on water). We’ll look closer at these special properties later.

Water is the only substance that occurs naturally as a solid (ice), a liquid and a gas (water vapor). It covers about 70 percent of the earth for a total of approximately 332.5 million cubic miles (1,386 million cubic kilometers) . If you’re familiar with the lines “Water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink” from the poem “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner,” you’ll understand that most of this water — 97 percent of it — is undrinkable because it’s saltwater (see illustration on next page). Only 3 percent of the world’s water supply is freshwater, and 77 percent of that is frozen. Of the 23 percent that is not frozen, only a half a percent is available to supply every plant, animal and person on Earth with all the water they need to survive

2ruly indeed:

Water is essential for the human body. The body cannot store water and must have fresh supplies every day to perform virtually every metabolic process. Babies and the elderly are vulnerable to lack of water or dehydration. If you regularly don’t drink enough water there is some increased risk of kidney stones and, in women, urinary tract infections.

The human body can last weeks without food, but only days without water. The body is made up of 55–75 per cent water. Water forms the basis of blood, digestive juices, urine and perspiration and is contained in lean muscle, fat and bones.

As the body can’t store water, we need fresh supplies every day to make up for losses from lungs, skin, urine and feces (poo). The amount we need depends on our metabolism, the weather, the food we eat and our activity levels.

Oh yeah!

Your lungs will expel between two and four cups per day. Another two to four cups will also be expelled through perspiration (not including exercise induced perspiration) and on average another six cups when you go to the toilet.

Your body needs a minimum of two liters per day to function properly. If you have not been an avid water drinker, this may seem to be an impossible task; the following tips will help you to achieve your daily requirements.

To some, however, taken in small quantities throughout the day, it is not hard at all. An effective way to reach your goal is to start with one-two glasses of water for your first two days.

Increase to three glasses on your third day, working your way up to the minimum requirement of eight glasses. We suggest wearing something just a little loose at the waistline; you may experience a little bloating through the first few days. This is normal.

Your body simply wants to hold on to the water it has been silently craving. Now that you are taking in water on a daily basis your body will trust you to continue to replenish the supply and release the water.

As it does so the magic starts to happen, toxins, waste, and pollutants will start being flushed out of your body. A few extra visits to the ladies room can also be expected and this too will diminish after the first few days. If you have been a heavy drinker of teas, coffees, hot chocolates and aerated drinks your complexion may have a tired-looking, drawn-out haze.

Your complexion could also suffer from a greasy or oily texture. Skin “spots” or “stains” can also be a side effect of excessive use of these drinks. These drinks also contain ingredients which act as diuretics reducing your hydration levels rather than what you need, increasing those levels.

In moderation, these drinks are fine — but because these drinks also contain high levels of caffeine, which prevent your body from making efficient use of minerals and vitamins, it is important to limit your intake. A safe level would be no more than 3 cups of tea or coffee a day. As you do increase water, you will find your cravings for caffeine reduce, that also means better sleep is near.
